Growth and Human Development
The CM 521 - Lifespan Development class covers all of human growth over the course of the lifespan, developmental theories, and systems models. This class was a very practical look at human physical development as well as social and emotional development. I learned not only developmental milestones for clients but also how environments shape developmental biopsychosocial progress. As part of this class, I interviewed an elderly man willing to discuss the life changes he was experiencing as part of the aging process for the artifact attached below. The interview focused on physiological, cognitive, and social aspects of aging.

While development is an ongoing life-long process, understanding developmental milestones is extremely important for working with adolescents and children. In my Creativity in Counseling class, I focused on developing skills in play therapy for children who developmentally could not engage in traditional conversational counseling. I have included an artifact of a review of an article I had to read for the creativity class. Play therapy is a field I hope to continue my education and receive accreditation.
